Welcome to the yAppointment Blog
Published on 6/15/2026
This blog is for people who run a small business where the calendar is the business. If clients book a time with you, or a seat, a room or a court, and you have ever lost hours to phone calls, missed appointments or a paper diary, these posts are written for you.
A booking tool should take work off your desk, not add to it. So every post here starts from a problem you actually have on an ordinary working day, and only then looks at what a tool can do about it.
Who it is for
Small service businesses that work with appointments or bookings:
- hairdressers, beauticians, physiotherapists, personal trainers and tutors;
- workshops and events that sell tickets;
- studios and gyms that sell passes;
- rooms or courts rented by the hour.
It makes no difference whether you work alone or with a small team, or whether you have one location or a few. You do not need to be a "tech person" either. We write for owners, not for IT departments.
What we will cover
- Fewer no-shows: reminders, deposits and waiting lists. What each one does, what it asks of your clients, and when it is worth setting up.
- Clients booking themselves instead of calling you: what to put in place so people can pick a free time at any hour without a phone call, and what to check before you switch it on.
- What booking tools really cost: how per-seat pricing and commission pricing work, and which numbers to add up before you compare. Explained neutrally, without naming anyone.
- Booking on the website you already have: how to add a booking page or button to an existing site, including a WordPress site, without rebuilding anything.
- Your own branded app: when a business benefits from having one, and when a simple booking page is enough.
How we write
Plain language, one practical question per post, no hype. If a post cannot help you decide something or do something, it does not get published. When we are not sure about a detail, we leave it out rather than guess.
Who we are
yAppointment is a booking and business management system for small businesses. We write this blog because these questions come up again and again, and a clear answer is useful whatever tool you end up choosing.
